Changing a Netgear Router Admin Password
Overview:
Once you bought a new NETGEAR router, it is supposed to be in factory default settings. One of the things you can do after configuring the router is to change its administrative password to improve the security of your network. This article will help you change the password to access the router user interface.
Note: The steps on this article applies to the NETGEAR Genie router interface and NOT the NETGEAR Genie desktop application. Please proceed with the steps provided so that you can access the NETGEAR Genie router interface.
Symptoms:

Resolution:
Using a computer that is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable, launch a web browser. Examples of web browsers include Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
Basic steps involved in this are
Step 1.
Visit http://www.routerlogin.com. You can also use the following:
http://www.routerlogin.net
10.0.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1
If you changed your router's IP address from the default, enter the new IP address instead.
Note: If none of these work, see see step 2 of the
"I cannot access my Router settings" article for more information.
You are prompted to enter a username and password.
Step 2.Enter the following default login credentials:
Username: admin
Password: password
Note: The username and password are case sensitive.
If the default login credentials does not work, you might have
changed the password. Use the new password that you have changed to. If you cannot remember your new password, you must perform a factory reset to restore the router to its factory default settings.
Step 3.The netgear homepage displays
Step 4.Click on advanced tab.
Step 5.Click on the Set Password and Administrator.
Step 6.After that type the old password and enter the new password in both set password and repeat new password
Step 7.Once you click on the Apply button the router will ask you to again for the username and password.This time enter the NEW
password.
Step 8.Congratulations you have successfully changed the router
Adminstrative password.
